You have made your plans
and you are excited about your ski vacation. The less enjoyable
part about a vacation is the packing and unpacking. Packing for
a ski trip is cumbersome. The clothes you need are bulky and
may take more than one suitcase. You also have to think about
the equipment you are going to take with you. You have some
options available to you.
Rent your equipment when you arrive.
If you do mind skiing on used equipment, you
may want to find out if equipment rentals are available.
Renting your equipment when you arrive will probably save you
money. The airlines may charge for the extra baggage.
Find out if ski shops in the area purchase
used equipment.
You have the option of purchasing new equipment
if you can afford it when you get to the ski lodge. In some
areas, there may be ski shops that purchase used equipment. You
should research the shops in the resort area and call to find out if they
purchase used equipment. Find out what the costs of new
equipment. Determine if you are getting most of your money
back before you use this option and that it is about the
same cost as renting the equipment.
Mail bulky clothing items to your lodge or
hotel.
Unless you can afford to purchase new clothes
when you get to your vacation destination, you will want to
take your ski suit, boots, gloves, and goggles with you. You
will also want to take clothes for other activities.
Since the clothes you need are so bulky, you
may want to consider mailing them to the lodge or inn where you
will be staying. Once you have made your reservations, you can
call the lodge or inn where you will be staying and tell them
you are sending them a box. Pack your bulky clothes in the box
and mail it or send it by UPS or FedEx. The hotel will hold the
box for you until you arrive. When you are ready to leave, you
mail the package back to your home. Mailing the package to the
hotel and back to yourself should be included in your budget
for your vacation. It probably will not cost less than fifty
dollars each way.
With less hassle, you can make your vacation
memorable.
